A digital detox is a short-term, intentional break from the technology and digital platforms that dominate our daily lives—like smartphones, social media, email, and streaming content.
The goal isn't to eliminate technology entirely, but to pause the constant input long enough to reset your focus, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with what matters most.
In today’s world, it’s normal to feel overstimulated or always “on.” We wake up to notifications, multitask through our day, and scroll late into the night. Over time, this kind of digital overload can lead to:

• Disconnection from your body, your goals, or your relationships.
A digital detox helps you step back and reassess your relationship with technology. It gives your mind space to rest and invites you back into deeper presence—with yourself, with others, and with the real world around you.
In a guided detox, like what I offer through Life Unsubscribed, you’re not just unplugging—you’re learning practical tools to:

The more we practice something, the better we perform. The same is true of habits that we are unintentionally training. When we spend our lives multitasking, switching between screens and tabs, responding to incoming notifications, and making ourselves always available, we teach our nervous system to be ever vigilant, and train our brains to expect novel stimuli continuously. Before long, you may notice a loss of ability to hold one train of thought, read a dense book, or be present in a conversation without your attention drifting.
Allow at least 2 weeks to break your existing habits, a full month to establish a new norm, and six weeks for an integrated and lasting mindset. That said, every individual is different and your personal results may vary.
It is ideal to practice a period of zero engagement with social media, but it isn't necessary for you to delete you accounts (unless you decide you want to after your fast!). There are numerous tactics for walling off the accounts that are the biggest temptation, and during your reprieve, you can get clear on why, when, and for how long you would like to spend time online in the future. With clear boundaries and specific goals, you will set yourself up for success.
Even if you spend your working day at the computer, it is still possible and very beneficial to complete a digital fast. The six week Digital Wellbeing Program will guide you in defining the specific parameters of your experience based on your goals. I will be coaching you on how to communicate proactively leading up to your detox and how to voice your boundaries within a work environment. You will come out of the program with more clear distinctions between your time at work and your time for YOU.
